The long wait is finally over as the 31st Westfield Health British Transplant Games get underway today.
The Games officially begin this evening at 7pm with the opening ceremony outside Sheffield City Hall in the city centre.
Hundreds of athletes, officials and families will then parade from Barkers Pool to the Peace Gardens to kick off the four-day sporting extravaganza in style.
Over the next few days more than 700 transplant athletes of all ages from across the UK will be in Sheffield competing in 26 different sports, including swimming, athletics, table tennis, golf and cycling.
On each day of the Games, the Westfield Health website will bring you a preview of the day’s key events.
Today’s highlights include archery at Don Valley Stadium, squash at Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club, snooker at the English Institute of Sport – Sheffield (EISS) and orienteering at Endcliffe Park.
The Games events are open to everyone and entrance is free of charge.
