Staff at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth are hooked on a Westfield Health cash plan.
The tourist attraction has introduced Westfield’s Foresight Plan for all employees.
Westfield was first in mind for Managing Director Andrew Robertson when the subject of staff health and employee benefits came under discussion.
Andrew said: “Sheffield was my home town and I have used a Westfield plan personally for many years, as has my family, so I knew its reputation and products well.
“It also felt like a good decision for a charitable organisation like the National Aquarium to link up with a not-for-profit provider like Westfield.
“We chose to introduce a cash plan for staff to give them a little something extra – something to add value to their regular pay rises.
“Times are changing for healthcare in the UK, and dental and optical check-ups alone aren’t cheap.
“Access to the 24-hour counselling and advice line could provide real peace of mind to those who need it and, from a business point of view, if benefits like physiotherapy help with a faster return to work then we as a company are going to benefit, too.”
The National Marine Aquarium was the first in the UK to be set up solely for the purpose of education, conservation and research. It remains Britain's foremost aquarium and celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2007.
The Aquarium is also firmly established as a regular adviser to many media and broadcast projects including, most recently, the BBC's 'Blue Planet' series.
Andrew added: “We cover staff on Level 1 of the plan but will encourage them to get more involved in terms of upgrading and adding partners.
“We hope that introducing the Foresight Plan demonstrates that we are an employer with a proactive and holistic approach to our workforce.”
