Westfield breaks claims records

More than £9 million has been paid out in record benefits to Westfield policyholders during the last three months of 2007.

The benefits paid in the month of November alone added up to an all-time top total of £3,591,714.

Westfield Chairman Graham Moore said he was absolutely delighted with the high levels of payouts: He said: "We are celebrating here at Westfield at having to pay out such record amounts of money to our policyholders. This represents a huge amount of healthcare support for the very people we exist for – our policyholders and their families."

The claims figures for the last quarter of 2007(October, November and December) were as follows:

  • The number of claims received by Westfield was 162,086
  • The value of claims paid by Westfield was £9,100,948

Graham said: "We are consistently meeting our target of processing 100 per cent of correctly presented claims within five working days of receipt. In fact during this final quarter of 2007 we were able to pay these claims within record time, too – just two to three working days."

High standards of customer service are enhanced with the number of claims that are now paid directly into policyholders’ bank accounts by direct credit. Last year 64.3 per cent of all claims were paid out in this way.

Graham was also delighted to report that the early indications are that these high levels of claims received and benefits paid out will continue in 2008.
