Tina steps onto Wembley pitch

Wembley Stadium

A Westfield Health employee stepped onto the hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium last weekend when she collected a prestigious award at the FA Community Shield.

Tina Stringer, customer service advisor at the Sheffield-based health insurance provider, received a National Football Workforce Award for her volunteer work with the Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA at the football season’s curtain-raiser between Manchester United and Portsmouth.

Tina collected her award at a pre-match meal at Wembley’s FA Club, attended by footballing heroes such as Sir Geoff Hurst, Sir Trevor Brooking and Ian Rush, before stepping onto the Wembley pitch at half-time for a group photo.

Tina won the award for her work as secretary of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Girl’s County League, without even knowing she had been nominated.

Tina said: "It was an absolutely fantastic day and I went through a real rollercoaster of emotions. For most of the day I couldn’t stop smiling but at the same time I was incredibly nervous.

"Collecting the award in front 600 people at the awards dinner was frightening enough, but to step onto the most famous football pitch in the world in front of more than 80,000 people was quite surreal, especially when they announced my name.

"I feel very proud to have won the award and it is nice to be recognised for the work I have put in over the last four years."
