Happy 90th Birthday Westfield Health!
Staff at Westfield Health travelled back in time to celebrate the health cash plan provider’s 90th birthday in style.
From the 1920s to the 1980s, employees donned their glad rags to mark the different eras that have passed since Westfield was founded in 1919.
Jill Davies, Westfield Health Chief Executive, said: "It was a great way to mark Westfield’s 90th anniversary. Every floor represented the era superbly – teamwork, originality and creativity were all in abundance.
"From the glamour of the twenties, through the suffering of the Second World War to the flower power of the sixties and the electronic era of the 1980s, Westfield has been a part of people’s lives for generations."
Westfield Health started out as the Sheffield Consultative and Advisory Hospitals Council. The ‘penny in the pound’ scheme – the forerunner of today’s health cash plan – was formed to help workers access free hospital treatment in return for a weekly contribution of a penny.
Ninety years on, Westfield now provides healthcare plans for approximately 370,000 policyholders throughout the UK, and more than 9,000 organisations nationally operate a Westfield plan for their employees.
Jill summed up: "It was a great day of celebration of our 90th year of business and we look forward in anticipation of many more celebrations in the years to come."
