There are just days to go until the start of the 2009 Westfield Health British Transplant Games and the push is on to get as many people as possible involved and signed up to the NHS Organ Donor Register.
The Games, running from July 31 – August 2 in Coventry, will see hundreds of people who have had their lives changed by receiving an organ transplant taking part in a range of sports to highlight the importance of organ donation.
Members of the public, businesses and families can get their running shoes on for the Coventry Telegraph Donor Run on Saturday August 1 at 7pm at Memorial Park. By taking part in the donor run, people from all walks of life can personally get involved with the Games and show their support for organ donation.
Thousands of people across Coventry have already signed up to the Donor Register.
Westfield Health Chairman Graham Moore said: “It is great news that so many people are being inspired by the Games and are joining the NHS Organ Donor Register.
“I carry a donor card myself and would encourage everyone to tell their friends and family and colleagues to sign up to the register and be a hero by giving the gift of life.
“The Games are fast approaching and it would be fantastic for Coventry to show their support in any way they can.”
The Westfield Health British Transplant Games will see hundreds of people taking part in a variety of sports such as swimming, athletics, tennis, golf, cycling and many more.
