Finance Director appointed at Westfield Health

Westfield Health has appointed Robert Evans as its new Finance Director.

Robert, 33, originally from Formby, near Liverpool, brings to his new role experience gained from working within high-profile insurance and financial organisations.

On completing a geography degree at the University of Sheffield, Robert joined Allied Dunbar (later taken over by Zurich) as part of their graduate scheme, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

After seven years at Zurich, Robert moved to Scarborough Building Society, where he worked in various senior finance roles over four years, ending up as Financial Controller for the subsidiary businesses.

As Westfield’s Finance Director, he will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the finance, ICT, internal audit and compliance functions.

Robert said: "After learning more about Westfield Health and meeting with members of the team including Graham Moore, Jill Davies and Julie Gill, I felt this was too good an opportunity to miss.

"When I left Zurich I made an active choice to work within the mutual sector as it aligns with my own ethical criteria. It’s a very strong aspect of the working ethos here and I would hope that I can fit in nicely with that culture and continue to strengthen it.

"Given that we don’t have any shareholders, we can really put the customer at the centre of the organisation. Lots of companies might pay lip-service to that sentiment but Westfield lives and breathes it.

"I think I bring a degree of commercialism to the role, but I also hope to bring a customer centric focus to the areas that I am responsible for and I’m looking forward to contributing to the company’s wider strategy over the next few years.

"I’m really enjoying my new role, all my colleagues are a pleasure to work with and it’s an exciting time to be at the company – it’s the best job I’ve ever had!"

In his spare time Robert is an active sportsman and is also a fervent supporter of this year’s FA Cup finalists Everton. He is in the process of completing his Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) at Manchester Business School.
