Westfield Health is backing a life-saving appeal by the British Red Cross to purchase a new high-tech ambulance for the South Yorkshire region.
The company has donated £5,000 to the charity’s appeal to help it continue to support people in need of urgent medical attention.
The British Red Cross provides first-aid cover at events such as football matches and concerts and transports people to and from hospital. It now needs to replace its old vehicle with a new state-of–the-art ambulance.
The donation from Westfield has boosted the appeal and brings the fundraising total to £57,000 – with a target of £65,000.
Rachel Olney, Senior Fundraiser for the British Red Cross, said: “Thank you to Westfield Health for this very generous donation, which helps us to get closer to reaching our target. The new ambulance is urgently needed and will provide crisis care to many thousands of people across the region.”
Graham Moore, Chairman of Westfield Health, said: “We are delighted to support such a worthwhile appeal, which will make such a big difference to the lives of people across South Yorkshire.”
The charity’s new ambulance will be based at the British Red Cross Sheffield office in Brightside Lane and will be staffed by trained volunteers with specialist first aid skills, able to respond to medical emergencies.
