The Commercial Accountant will work within the Commercial Finance Team to provide support in the delivery of the internal wellbeing strategy for Westfield Health.

The Commercial Accountant will work within the Commercial Finance Team to provide support in the delivery of the internal wellbeing strategy for Westfield Health.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Commercial Finance in producing the monthly management accounts, analysing the results to understand performance and explain the key reasons for variances against budget.
  • Assist the Head of Commercial finance in providing monthly forecasting of group results, followed by a quarterly deep dive analysis.
  • Support the Head of Commercial Finance in the preparation and collation of the annual budgets for the group. Review and report on the aggregated budget submissions highlighting key variances compared to previous years budgets.
  • Prepare the annual product and channel profitability review to provide insight into cost and margin performance of all core insurance and non-insurance propositions.
  • Provide business partnering support across the Westfield group to drive delivery of operational cost management targets as provided for in the five year financial plan.
  • Deputise for the Head of Commercial Finance when appropriate to do so.
  • Demonstrate commitment and pride of the work by being aware of own role and responsibilities. In the event of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) being activated, respond flexibly to ensure the continuation of the company’s business operations, as outlined in the BCP.
  • Seek to enhance the experience for our customers and colleagues by complying with all relevant legislative requirements, including financial services regulations, employment law, Data Protection and Health and Safety.

Education and Qualifications


  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA)


  • Experience in producing monthly management accounts, analysing the results and explaining the key reasons for variances against budget.
  • Experience and a proven track record of financial modelling, budget planning and forecasting.
  • Experience of presenting technical analyses to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience of building and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels from team members to senior executives.


  • Experience of working in the insurance industry.


  • Strong budgetary and financial management skills aligned to a sound understanding of business planning.
  • Relationship building skills and the confidence to manage and influence key stakeholders
  • Strong business awareness and commercial acumen.
  • Highly numerate and analytical and capable of working accurately at speed.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, able work under pressure and manage priorities
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, self-motivated and able to work with no supervision.
