Westfield Health unveils private prescription service
We've just launched a new service that will enable customers to be prescribed medication over the phone or via an online consultation, and have it delivered to their home or work address.
Our DoctorLine™ service has been enhanced in response to increased budgetary pressures facing the NHS and, in particular, GP access and public sector prescribing services in England.
The Private Prescription Service enables GPs to raise an electronic private prescription following a DoctorLine™ telephone or webcam consultation and send it directly to their pharmacy dispensing company for the medication to be dispatched to an address nominated by the patient. This is after paying for the medicine and the cost of the delivery.
Our Executive Director Paul Shires said: “Changes to the NHS, and the financial pressures it’s faced with, are unsurprisingly impacting on GP access in England and the NHS prescribing service.
“We’ve taken the decision to introduce this service to make it more convenient, particularly for working people, to access GPs and obtain required medication. Essentially, they won’t have to leave their home or workplace to attend a GP appointment and receive the prescription they need.”
Doctors can raise prescriptions seven days a week and they will be dispensed the next working day – including Saturday mornings.
Paul added: “We understand that if someone has a health concern, either about themselves or a family member, they want it to be diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible.
“This service gives patients the peace of mind that they can get the medication they need delivered to their door without waiting for a GP appointment to become available.”
The DoctorLine™ service provides access to a fully qualified UK GP 24 hours a day via telephone, or between 8.30am and 6.30pm via webcam.
More than 70 per cent of DoctorLine™ calls result in the patient receiving a diagnosis and recommended course of action, without the need for further medical advice.
