The Games: Day One

British Transplant Games in Liverpool 2016

The 2016 Westfield Health British Transplant Games officially starts today with hundreds of athletes attending an opening ceremony at the Liverpool Exhibition Centre.

The event begins at 6.30pm and will feature presentations and entertainment for more than 2,500 people including participants, spectators and special guests.

As part of the Games opening day celebrations a number of sporting events will get underway including snooker at Scotties Snooker Club at 1pm, basketball at Greenbank Sports Academy (1pm), and archery (10am) and squash (1pm) at Liverpool Cricket Club.

Meanwhile, Lee Park Golf Club will host a golf practice event from 7.30am until 5.30pm.

The four-day British Transplant Games aims to raise awareness of organ donation and will see transplant athletes of all ages from across the UK compete in different sporting events.

Everyone is welcome to come along and support this amazing event and entrance is free of charge.
