Westfield Health chairman appointed as ‘Ambassador for the North’

Great North Exhibition

The Great Exhibition of the North has appointed Westfield Health’s Non-Executive Chairman, Graham Moore, as an Ambassador.

The event, which is running from 22 June - 9 September in Newcastle-Gateshead, is a celebration of innovators, artists, and designers from the North of England. It will be the largest event of its kind in England in 2018, and a game changing moment for the North.

Graham said: “I am honoured to be an Ambassador for the Great Exhibition of the North, an event helping people to discover the dynamic story of the North of England.

“There are a lot of exciting developments happening in this region at the moment, not least in the health and wellbeing sector, and this event plays an important role in challenging the preconceptions that can sometimes surround the area.

“It is a privilege to be chosen and I am excited to be involved in raising the profile of this event.”

Alongside Graham, the exhibition will include Ambassadors representing Huddersfield University, York College, Wensleydale Cheese, Symington’s Foods, and Opera North, amongst others.

The Great Exhibition of the North concept was announced by the former Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne in his budget of November 2015. In July 2016, four towns and cities were shortlisted - Blackpool, Bradford, Sheffield and Newcastle-Gateshead – and in October last year, Newcastle-Gateshead were named the winners.

The government is giving the project £5m and there will be activities for people to see and do at the three venues, and three trails – innovation, arts and design – through the region.
