Magic Breakfast provides healthy breakfasts to children and young people who arrive at school too hungry to learn as well as expert support to their partner schools. They undertake research, and campaigns for long-term solutions to end hunger as a barrier to learning.
What were you looking for from a wellbeing provider?
Magic Breakfast has a people strategy focused on ensuring an inclusive culture where people feel happy and able to bring their whole selves to work, in order to best make a difference to the lives of children and young people. To underpin this I wanted to ensure a focus on wellbeing and a partnership with a provider who would support beyond a cash plan. I was looking for a partnership and a more tailored approach to suit our demographic and mixed hybrid/field work structure.
What problems did you need to overcome?
It was clear to me that we needed to address a culture of feeling overstretched and anxious. Westfield were able to really understand our needs and adapt their services to meet what we needed. We built up a programme of linked webinars around managing time and impact, emotional self care, mental and physical health and resilience.
What impact have you seen since implementing the wellbeing solutions?
Colleagues got a lot from the webinars and they love the cash plan — nearly half of staff have claimed and all feedback has been about how easy it is to claim and how fast the money is paid.
