There’s a growing mental health crisis in the UK with one in four adults experiencing mental illness each year.
Though talking about mental health has become much more common, there can still be a real stigma when it comes to the workplace.
As a result, many employees don’t speak up until they’re really struggling to cope. What measures do you have in place to recognise the warning signs and respond in a crisis?
Having qualified Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®) in the workplace provides a point of contact for an employee who is experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress. This interaction could range from having an initial conversation through to supporting the individual to get appropriate help in a crisis. MHFAiders® can spot the signs of mental ill health and are valuable in providing early support for someone who may be developing a mental health issue.
Certified by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England, our online or in-person courses will give your employees the knowledge and confidence to support someone who is experiencing mental distress.
Available as a two-day in-house face to face course or delivered online via four separate sessions, this course will certify learners as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®).
This is an approved MHFA England four hour workshop for up to 16 people and is aimed at employees who want to increase their mental health knowledge.
Aimed at leaders, HR personnel and anyone with line management responsibility, this one-day course is ideal for businesses who want to create a network of MHFA Champions and help to build a mentally healthy workplace and positive culture.
This four hour online or in-person course is aimed at MHFAiders® or Champions to refresh their skills and update their knowledge. It’s recommended MHFAiders® take this every three years.
One-hour support sessions aimed at recently qualified MHFAiders® or Champions to meet with other MHFAiders® and share knowledge, experience and best practice.
We asked some of our MHFAiders® what it means to them, what’s expected of them once qualified and how Mental Health First Aid can benefit businesses.
