The British Transplant Games: Day One

The British Transplant Games 2014

The 2014 Westfield Health British Transplant Games will officially kick off in style today with hundreds of athletes attending an opening ceremony in Bolton’s Victoria Square.

During the day, a number of sporting events will take place including snooker at the Bolton Snooker Club, the preliminary round of lawn bowls at the Bolton Bowling Club, archery at Bolton Arena, and squash at George H. Carnall Leisure Centre, all of which will start at 1:30pm.

Meanwhile, Regent Park Golf Club will hold an open practice event from 7.30am until 5:30pm.

The event officially begins at 6:30pm and will feature presentations and entertainment for the more than 1,500 participants, spectators and special guests attending.  

The four-day British Transplant Games event aims to raise awareness of organ donation and will see transplant athletes of all ages from across the UK compete in different sports.

Anyone can come to watch the sporting events and entrance is free of charge.
