The 2017 Westfield Health British Transplant Games will continue this weekend with a host of sporting events including swimming, football, and track and field.
Saturday’s festival of sport starts at 8am with badminton at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, before the kids make a splash with the children’s swimming at Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex, starting at 9am.
Then it’s time for some adult bowls at Coatbridge Indoor Bowling Club, starting at 9.30am, before a whole host of events get underway at 1pm.
The Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility area will be a hive of activity, with both children’s and adults five-a-side football taking place at the same time as the children’s badminton. The facility will also be the stage for the adult netball as well as the under-fives archery and long jump.
Two walks will take place at Strathclyde County Park at 1pm, both an adult and an open event. Adult swimming will commence at the same time from the Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex.
The day’s sport will draw to a close at 6pm with an adults’ mini marathon and half an hour later an open donor run at Strathclyde County Park.
Sunday will see the culmination of the sporting events, with children and adults of all ages competing in the track and field competitions, which will run from 9am to around 5pm.
Competitors will have the chance to let their hair down on the Sunday evening, with a celebratory event at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility. The celebration for children begins at 6pm, and 7.30pm for adults with celebrations planned to go well into the early hours.

“Westfield Health has supported the British Transplant Games for more than 10 years now, which we are incredibly proud about. The Games do so much to raise awareness of the value of organ donation and how the decision to sign up to the Organ Donor Register can save lives.
