What made you choose the Westfield Health cash plan and screening days for your employees?
During the COVID-19 pandemic our business was able to stay open, our turnover doubled, and our employees were busier than ever. They’d worked extremely hard, so in 2021 we implemented a health and wellbeing scheme as a way of letting our people know that we’re looking after them. The scheme included the Westfield cash plan and the health screening days, as well as other benefits.
What impact have the health screenings had on your employees?
We’ve been running the screenings for a few years, they’re a great way for people to benchmark their health and get advice. The fact that they take place during working hours and on the premises makes it easy for our employees to attend and we find they really engage with it.
On a few occasions, the screenings identified underlying health concerns that led to employees seeing a GP for treatment. The precautionary reasons why the screenings were originally put in place paid off.
We started with the 10-minute checks and based on employee feedback we added the more in-depth health checks. We’ve seen that employees keep their paperwork from the previous years to see how their scores have changed.
Now it’s so popular that we run out of appointments whenever we have a screening day.
